The latest book I checked off my reading list is Circe by Madeline Miller. I have been looking forward to reading this book for ages! It had so many great reviews and I'm a huge sucker for mythology so it seemed like a good fit. Unfortunately this book was a bit of a let down. It felt really long and honestly kinda sad. Maybe its just my mood and the current state of the world but the first half was tough to get through. In a strange way I am glad that I stuck it out through the end because the end was pretty satisfying. The last little bit pulled together all the themes of the book like a neat little bow. I found myself looking up a lot of the greek gods and goddesses mentioned in the book and in some ways the side bar reading better than the book itself. Overall mixed feelings!If you've read this one what did you think? Did you enjoy it?
My goal for the year is to read 24 books and this book is my current count for the year is 18! I got a little bit behind but am finally all caught up and maybe even a bit ahead of schedule. Reading these days has been a great escape from all the woes of the world. I'm not sure what book is next, but I've got my eye on a few!
